Purchased 9 years ago and never looked back. Still working brilliantly. Use for running ultramarathons through the night. I haven’t come across another head torch as effective as the ay-up in my years of training and racing in Australia.
We bought this kit some months back for a day/night rogaine. Instead of stumbling around in the half dark as we had on previous events, the lights lit up our path for what felt like miles in front of us, and also had enough spread that we didn’t feel like we were walking in a tunnel. Then, I recently participated in a 24 hour MTB event, and used the light on my helmet for my night laps. I did have a crappy (not Ayup branded) light on my handlebars, but it was like a candle compared with the beam from the Ayup light. Before I went out I was terrified of my night laps, and was convinced I would crash because I wasn’t going to be able to see the track well enough to navigate the features, especially as my night vision is not what it used to be. However, the Ayup light lit everything up so beautifully I could see every detail on the track and I loved my night laps.
Have had my ayup light kit for over 10 years have never had a problem. They are still working perfectly. Best lights I have ever purchased. I am an avid cyclist and have ridden early in the morning and late into the night.
I have now been doing The Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast now for 11 years, my first 2 years, I was tripping , walking into things , slowing down, until a friend got me onto AYUP, at first I thought huge investment can I justify the money.. Well thank you AYUP I have never regretted my purchase of the run kit , people rely on my AYUP headlamp when theirs fails or goes flat , or simply isn’t bright enough. Totally worth every penny and since have purchased the bike kit , its multi use makes it even more appealing. Well done to the team that put this little gem together. Kind Regards Donna
The best lights money can buy. Worth every single penny importing to the UK.
I purchased a run pack from Ay-Up. I had a problem ordering on line. So I phoned and the service I received was first class. I had the system 2 days later. I have used other brands of running lights but none of them measure up to Ay-Up. They have to be the best light on the market.
Just need to share this; My wife bought one of your lights about 12 years ago for my mountain running. In that time it has performed flawlessly in some of the most horrible weather conditions imaginable. Both the battery and the LED’s are still working 100%! Last week my daughter put it through a 40 degree wash cycle! after 2 days drying out on a radiator, it is back to working perfection! Congratulation on making such a high quality product!!!
I have had my first 2 sets since at least 2009 (maybe late 2008) and the 3rd since 2010. Despite treating the batteries rather badly (it happens when you have spares) nothing has failed or even hiccuped. I run a handlebar light, a helmet light and a set of rear facing lights with red caps after getting hit by a car They have had a couple of high speed encounters with the road due to falls and inadequate attachment (due to rushing out to ride) everything works like when I bought it. Bright, reliable and durable they have been well worth the outlay and I would strongly recommend them to anyone. PS. The work really well as an area light with the white caps when setting up camp in the dark
Wow! Had high expectations based on reviews and price but this light exceeded all of them. Absolutely every detail is next level, from comfort fit, to brightness, to performance. I simply cannot fault it. There can’t possibly be a better headlamp out there, highly recommended (I use mine for work and running)
Thanks for shipping my order of batteries so fast to my brother in law Jean-Serge Durand. On your website it mentioned you were closed until 16th April. We received my order on April 17th!!! My brother in law lives near Brisbane, QLD which of course is easier and close. I really wanted to mention your efficiency…..
I’ve had my Ay-Up for a few years now and am very happy with its performance and durability. I am an Ultra Runner who runs many hours early morning/late evening. You will not find a brighter light. I love the dual barrels, perfect for adjusting 1 x up and 1 x down to break up the shadows. I am bald and very fussy when it comes to anything worn on my head. The Ay Up is a great fit, easily adjustable and sits snug when running fast. The only slight downside is its size/weight versus some others – however this is offset by its superior performance. I also do a lot of back country hiking/camping/fishing over multiple nights without recharging – does the job perfectly. If you buy one, you won’t be disappointed.
By far the best running headlights I’ve ever used. I bought mine in Sept 2013…. they are still going strong. I use them when running with my dog on the mountain in the morning / evenings. There are no street lights and I can see perfectly. Cars slow down and dip their lights too. Brilliant lights! Defo worth the money!!!! 5*
Brilliant headlight. I ran the 100km Ultra Trail Australia with this headlight, and also trained with it too. I recommend this light over others; It is comfortable, bright, the moveable dual lights work well and has a decent battery life.
These lights are hands down the best thing I have ever bought for recreation/ sport. They have totally changed my outlook on night (early morning) running and allow me to get out in the wee hours before the rest of the world awakes. The head strap mount is comfortable and adjustable – I’ve been for runs up to 2hrs in the dark and no irritation/annoyance. The light simply stays where it should and you hardly notice it. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
My new headlamp from Ay Up has been described by my friends as a “locomotive” light given how powerfully it illuminates. Even at 25% (175 lumens) it outperforms everything I’ve seen.
I brought these lights November 2014. They are probably the best head torch lights I have. Although they are bulkier than the others, they are not noticeably heavier, especially when worn. I use them in the winter when running, in the woods and fields with the dogs, they offer a great spread of light. I wasn’t sure how long I would get from a single battery charge. This July I used them in a 50mile run, I had the torch set on high and the battery saw use for a straight 7 1/2 hrs. A number of runners commented on how good they were.
I got these lights for use in old mines and fortifications for both of which the idea of the independently focused beams seemed a good idea – one beam to show the way ahead and the other always illuminating the ground in front (and any shafts I might be about to fall in). Well such is the way with exploration I haven’t had a chance to use them for real as yet but as where I live suffers from constant power cuts I have found the same independent beams fantastic for cooking ! Like some of those knives they tell us about on TV, ‘No cook should be without one of these’. Compared with all the other headlights I have used in the kitchen these lights are far superior. Like I say I have not tried them in the field but the quality, power and battery life of these lights is at the top. I have gone thru many other top of the range lights and non compare so my advice is just buy them !
I’m an ultra distance trail runner. A lot of people claim to be wearing the brightest headlamp out there. I’ve never seen a single one whose beam I couldn’t wash out completely by turning on my Ayup. Independent focus minimizes shadows and increases your illuminated range. 8+ hour battery life gets the job done. When my running partner and I are both wearing these and running together at night, the other runners may as well turn their lamps off and break out the sunscreen. I have turned several fellow runner on to this torch and no regrets from anyone. You get what you pay for with these guys. If there’s something brighter out there, I haven’t found it yet.
best ever headlamp bought . use for fishing . so bright on beach lights up whole area.other anglers so impressed they have bought one to.
I love my AyUp lights. They are so powerful I’ve had people driving onto the property asking if I was riding a motorbike. I have the run lights but use them for equestrian activities and spotting lambing ewes at 500 metres away. I recommend them to everyone who needs a super-bright, reliable, night light.
A large passenger jet passing close to me saw my HT-13 while I was doing some night photography on Camels Hump, (the second highest peak in Vermont, with a very small, promontory-like summit) and mistook my summit antics with the light as distress signs, and reported it for a possible rescue. I was down the mountain just as a very nice officer arrived, so I was able to explain what I was doing. She was actually pretty amused, so it all worked out well. So now I know to be careful with the awesome power of the Ay Up HT-13 Worlds Most Awesome Lighting System
Well what can I say? The new lights performed incredibly well on the night sections at TNF100. I was actually running pretty well this year and so didn’t need the lights until the last section. They scared the bejesus out of other runners and I passed heaps of people on the trail. Even other AY UP wearers felt intimidated. Definitely gone up a notch!! Well done.
Here it is…..the AY UP HT13! These are the awesome lights I have been testing out! They lit up the forest at Geoquest, and have been proving very effective in our winter Night Runs and Night Navigation Training sessions. If you are looking to upgrade…..you can’t go past these, as not only can you use the light for trail running, you can put the light on your helmet/handlebars, if you already have the attachments. The new head strap is extremely comfortable and the way the battery locks on is better when going through really thick bush! I think the battery life is actually more than the specs suggest……so you can go all night on just one battery (a bit bigger than the 1/2 epic, but a bit smaller than the Epic). This is definitely worth considering.
The new Ay Up Light was fantastic! It was just like running in a fully lit room. The light is more powerful than the sun with 700+ Lumen Light with Flood Beam. Photographer’s cameras have problems taking photos of it whilst the light is switched on. I had no troubles running through the tough technical terrain of the Wentworth falls area of the Blue Mountains in TNF100 to secure 3rd position and a 15min PB in TNF100. The Ay Up was a perfect even light over any surface. The new Cree LED and optic evened out the shadows around rocks and I did not trip once in the last 10 km of my 100 km race. The head strap was comfortable and did not bounce on my head whilst running over stairs, rocks, creeks and roads. The button was easy to control the settings. I really recommend this light to any endurance athlete. I can’t wait to test it to its full capacity whilst running the UTMB in August.
